Accomodations for Gender Diverse Students in Nevada's Schools
In 2017, The Nevada State Legislature passed SB225, a new law that provides rights, privileges, and protections for gender diverse students in Nevada schools. The Nevada Department of Education will vote on the new policy on March 30th. At this point in the process, it's not IF this new policy will be implemented in our kids' schools, but WHEN. Still, there are some things you should know. Every student is entitled to dignity, privacy, and respect. The problem is, this policy does not accomplish that. In fact, this regulation infringes upon students' right to free speech, as well as their right to privacy. It violates parental rights. It eliminates competitive fairness and equal opportunity in school sports. It raises troubling religious liberty issues, and micro-manages Nevada's diverse student populations with mandatory, one-size-fits-all state oversight.
