No Tolerance for Christians

All eyes were on Rocklin, California on Monday, September 18, as parents and protesters gathered at a school board meeting to decide on some ground rules moving forward. After a kindergarten teacher read two books promoting transgenderism in children to her class last year at Rocklin Academy, and then orchestrated a trans boy's "reveal," as you can imagine, the 5-year olds were confused by this and afraid, and their parents were horrified that they had not been alerted to the discussion beforehand.

Unfortunately, no change will be made regarding how Rocklin Academy handles the subject of transgenderism in their school. Parents will not be notified when instruction on the topic occurs, nor will they be offered the option of opting their child out of such instruction. This same brand of tyranny is coming to a school near you soon, if it isn't already there.

Like Rocklin Academy, parents' wishes will be disregarded in your child's school, too. There are school board members, district administrations, superintendents, principals, and teachers that believe they know better than you. They think that families who adhere to the traditional or biblical understanding of marriage, sexuality, and gender are bigoted against gay or transgender people.

The fact is, adults are free to engage in homosexual or transgender behaviors if they so desire. But, Christians do not want the teachers in their children's lives telling their children that homosexuality or transgenderism are good paths to take if that is the way their little hearts lead them. Families who strive to walk in obedience to God cannot call a behavior God condemns good or helpful or desirable. We teach our children to follow God, NOT our own wayward hearts and their disordered passions.

School administrations are mistaken when they conclude moms and dads who point to the Holy Bible when teaching their children what God requires and what God condemns are instilling hate. If we strive to adhere to the word of a God as it is written, we cannot tell our children that acting out their vile urges is something that is beautiful, or a behavior we can affirm. Rather, we instruct our kids to resist sin when they are tempted to it, and exhort them to develop the self control and reliance on God's help needed to do so, for their own good, AND for the good of others around them.

We teach our children this way because no man lives in a bubble; how we choose to live out our lives effects the human beings around us, and we have a responsibility to them AND to God, BEFORE we think about ourselves. This is the kind of wisdom we endeavor to instill in our children: that a life well lived does not seek to gratify these kinds of self-indulgent, perverse lusts, and become enslaved to them, but rather seeks to pour all its energy out in serving others well and in loving God with a heart that is not self-seeking, and remains free from the sins that torment and bind a person to sexual addiction, self-loathing, and too often, suicide.

We teach our children to love every person as Christ loves them-- enough to wrap His glory up in frail human flesh and purposefully die so we don't have to. This radical love is called Grace, and we who follow Jesus Christ are called to extend this Grace to others. We do this by telling them the truth in love. To call Christians hateful in regard to our beliefs or attitudes toward sexually non-typical people is simply a false conclusion. Our beliefs about homosexuality, gay "marriage," and transgenderism, among many other things, are informed by the Bible, which we believe is God-breathed, not by ignorance, intolerance, or prejudice. People who choose not to place the scriptures in authority over their beliefs, experiences, and passions, or who disagree with God's commandments on sex, on gender identity, or anything else, should stop stating Christians operate in hate in regard to these things. It is false. It is disingenuous. It slanders instead of cultivating mutual respect, tolerance, and meaningful dialogue on these important matters.

Activists for the LGBTQ religion working in the public school system regard themselves as virtuous, heroically telling children there really is no such thing as objective truth, just "your" truth, that a person's God-given gender isn't a rare and valuable treasure, but something to be played with, like trying different hairstyles, that a boy isn't always a boy, but sometimes a girl, and vice versa, that homosexual sexuality is just as good and beneficial as man-woman sexuality, that sodomy is the same as sex, and that a gay "married" couple is the very same thing as a man and woman married couple.

For reasons unbeknownst to me, the public school education establishment has decided that Muslim families are entitled to tolerance, that Jewish families are entitled to tolerance, that gay families are entitled to tolerance, that transgender families are entitled to tolerance, that illegal immigrant families are entitled to tolerance, and on and on and on and on...... but Christian families get no tolerance.

The schools can't be bothered to send a note home alerting Christian parents that their child's class will be receiving instruction that we may find objectionable. Because in performing such a courtesy, the school is acknowledging that different points of view on the subject of sexuality and gender identity exist. And they cannot admit as such. They have made up their minds that the only viewpoint on these matters is the collective, secular viewpoint.

Hypocrites. Don't you preach diversity of ideas to us. Don't you pretend you value multiculturalism. Don't EVEN talk to us about TOLERANCE.

My friends, what happened in Rocklin, CA is coming to your school, if it hasn't already arrived. For parents who have only one option-- sending their children to public schools-- we have been rendered powerless to guide our children on these important moral subjects in the way that we are required to by God. Our hands are tied by the ridiculously power-happy School Establishment. This is not how it ought to be.
